The applications for 94(C) and 94 (CC) can be filed in the Nemmadi Kendra at the hobli level. A copy of ration card and a photograph of the house constructed in government land should be affixed with the application. Pramod instructed the officials to keep a strong vigil on the apartments and houses constructed illegally on government land.

He urged the VAs and PDOs to effectively publicise the availability of applications under 94(C) and 94 (CC). The applications will be made available in the MLA’s office and food and civil supplies stores.

Later, speaking to press persons Pramod said that 5,000 applications were received for sites. The village accountants and panchayat development officers have been instructed to scrutinise the documents affixed along with the applications.

Three categories are made while sorting the applications. In category A, the applicant has to be landless and living in a rented house, while in category B the applicant has to be living with a joint family which has difficulty in affording to buy land to construct a house. Category C is for people having land and house; they can still file applications, but the applications received under this category will mostly be subject to rejection.

Panchayat authorities have been clearly directed to scrutinize the applications and submit them to the revenue inspectors on or before September 30. Two panchayats have been given a grace period of 1 month due to excessive applications and have been asked to submit the applications on October 30.

The Taluk panchayat has identified 42 acres of land which will be used for allotting to the landless people. A proposal for constructing flats has been widely discussed. 78 families can be accommodated in one acre if flat system is introduced but if sites are allotted only 28 families can be accommodated.

A proposal for constructing GTTC engineering college costing Rs 48 crores is in final the stage. The government has directed the district administration to allocate land for the engineering college. The college will be constructed in Uppoor. Land will also be allocated for setting up small scale industries to promote employment opportunities for the youth in Udupi constituency, he added.

CMC President Yuvraj, EO Rajendra Bekal, CMC Commissioner Manjunathayya and others were present.
