Udupi-Origin Man Brutally Murdered in Sharjah; Wife and Minor Son Missing
Udupi/Sharjah: In a shocking development, a man originally from Udupi was allegedly murdered in Sharjah, with the case coming to light only recently. The deceased has been identified as Prakash Kundar, a native of Udupi, and reports suggest the incident may have occurred in July.
According to available information, Prakash was living in Sharjah with his wife, Tina, and their minor son. He was employed at Sharjah Airport. Around July 20, Prakash reportedly attempted to contact his brother, Prashanth Kundar. While he usually communicated through voice messages, on this occasion he allegedly replied only by text message. When his brother insisted he speak directly over the phone, all communication with him was suddenly lost, raising immediate concern among family members.
When relatives later enquired about his whereabouts, the company where Prakash worked reportedly informed them that he had travelled to India. However, as the family had no confirmation that he had actually returned home, they filed a complaint in Sharjah. Following this, local police launched a search operation.
During the investigation, police reportedly discovered Prakash’s body inside his own car. Sources indicate that he had sustained stab injuries, and that the body had been dismembered. The gruesome nature of the discovery deeply shocked relatives and the wider community.
Adding to the mystery, Prakash’s wife Tina and their minor son are also missing. Their disappearance has intensified concerns and raised several unanswered questions surrounding the case. At present, the motive behind the murder and the identities of those responsible remain unknown. Sharjah Police are continuing their investigation, and further details are expected as the case progresses.
Prakash and Tina had reportedly been married for nearly 20 years. Tina worked as a teacher, while their son was said to be studying in SSLC. Prakash had last visited India in December last year. Relatives have stated that they were not aware of any family disputes or conflicts.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to complete the legal formalities required to bring Prakash’s body back to India. His family is now waiting for the mortal remains to be repatriated to his homeland, even as the investigation into the tragic incident continues.
Brother Demands Investigation and Appropriate Legal Action
The deceased’s brother, Anil Prashanth Kundar, met the Udupi District Superintendent of Police today and submitted a petition seeking action in connection with the case.
Speaking to the media afterwards, he said, “I called Prakash on July 20, but he did not answer the call. Instead, he sent me a typed message saying that he was fine. He would never normally send messages like this. When I called him again a week later, he did not answer the call either.”
Growing suspicious, he said he contacted Prakash’s classmate Manohar, who was in Sharjah, and informed him about the situation. Manohar then went to the flat provided to Prakash by his company to make inquiries. The watchman there reportedly said that Prakash had gone to India.
Following this, Anil said he personally contacted the HR department of Prakash’s company, where they also informed him that Prakash had gone to India.
“I called them again the next day and told them that Prakash had not returned to India and was still there in Sharjah, and requested them to verify the matter. When they checked his passport, they found that Prakash was still in Sharjah. Accordingly, I filed a complaint from here regarding his disappearance,” he said.
He further stated that during the subsequent investigation, Prakash’s body was found near a route leading towards Oman. The body had reportedly been dismembered into nine pieces and packed into two bags inside a car. After verification, it was confirmed that the body was that of Prakash. He added that the post-mortem report had reached the family only yesterday.
“Prakash’s wife and son are currently not in Sharjah. We have been told that she has returned to India, but we do not know where they are. I have submitted a petition to the SP regarding this matter. A comprehensive investigation should be conducted and the accused should be given appropriate punishment,” he demanded.
District Police Issue Clarification on Reports of Udupi-Origin Man Being Murdered in Sharjah
The Udupi District Police Department has issued a clarification regarding reports circulating in some local media outlets and on social media platforms claiming that a man from Udupi was murdered in Sharjah, UAE.
However, the police have clarified that the Udupi District Police have so far received no official information or confirmation regarding the incident from the Sharjah Police Department or the Indian Embassy/Consulate in the UAE.
The police department stated that if any official information related to the case is received by the Udupi District Police, it will be verified and subsequently shared with the media.
In view of this, the police have advised the public not to treat the information circulating on social media as confirmed news until official confirmation is received.
