Udupi: Dr N R Narayana Murthy founder of Infosys was honoured with “Rastra Ratna Award” by Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math on January 23.
Dr Narayana Murthy visited Sri Krishna Math, offered special prayers and obtained blessings of the Swamiji. After the visit to Sri Krishna Math, a brief felicitation ceremony was held at the Ananada Thirtha Mantapa where Narayana Murthy received the award.
Addressing the gathering Sri Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math said that Narayana Murthy’s contribution to IT sector is remarkable. He has glorified Bengaluru making it an IT link to the globe. The political class interacts with him while taking policy decisions. He is also a renowned face of Madhwa community. He has been conferred Rastra Ratna award, the highest honour of the Math. The Rastra Ratna award will be conferred to the achievers in various fields.
Dr Narayana Murthy receiving the award said that the Swamiji’s love towards him has inspired him to engage himself into social service with honesty.
Vishwesha Thirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Pejawar Math also felicitated Nira Radia, who used to run a public relations firm, with the Seva Ratna Prashasti
Sri Vishwa Prasanna Thirtha Junior Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Vasudeva Perampalli, Murali Kadekar and others were present.
Shree Naaraayana Moorthy deserves all the recognition for what he managed to achieve in his life. While he was not the only one who made it happen, he certainly deserves a great share of the recognition. There is another thing that many people are not aware of. There are thousands and thousands of people who worked for Infosys who went onto become karodpatis due to employee stock options!! Thousands of employees (and ex-employees) became karodpatis in their late 20s and early 30s – thanks to generous stock options!!
However, I’m not sure about the Radia lady!! Is it not the same lady who was caught on tape a few years ago? By the way, Bakra Dutta was also caught in the same tapes but she continues to be the lead the pack of journalists in India. I guess it explains the sad state of press in India!!
I like to speak the facts and have the conviction to admit mistakes, whenever I have committed them due to decisions that went wrong. I do not have any icons to stupidly say that, Once a member of Congress or BJP or Chameli Party, I am always its devout follower.” If someone has done mistakes, I vociferously criticise and if someone has done good, I acknowledge it.” This is simply because I do not have any vested interests to praise someone or an axe to grind, even if he has done wrong.
I admire Mr. Naryana Murthy and most Indian politicians could learn a thing or two from him about simplicity, honesty and transparency in their lives, rather than foooling the Almighty God by visiting temples of worship to perform various tailor-made rituals. I also admire Azeem Premji and Rattan Tata, who have their own ethics and spend a lot of money on charity.
