Udupi: SMC Pays Hearty Farewell to Prof. Ronald Moras on his Superannuation

Udupi: He is a tutor of high morale. He nurtured many young minds, transformed them into good human beings. He delivered his lectures even while he was unwell, his legacy will continue in SMC. Prof. Ronald J Moras after serving a long stint of 35 years in St. Mary’s College Shirva will be superannuated in November.

Students along with the management and staff of St. Mary’s College, Shirva paid a hearty farewell to Prof. Ronald J Moras in a farewell programme organised on his superannuation in SMC, Hall here on October 8.

Fr. Lawrence D’Souza, Secretary of Catholic Education Society, said that Prof. Moras is the strongest pillar of St Mary’s College and his role in the growth of the college is tremendous. “He grew along with the college. His talent mesmerises many. He has a galaxy of student followers who have scaled new heights in the society. Moras is a disciplined tutor who will be remembered forever in St. Mary’s College Shirva,” he added.

Prof. Moras in his farewell speech said that St. Mary’s College has always been his second home. “I learnt here to associate with students, which has made me a complete man. I entered the teaching profession to enhance the potentials of the students. In the journey of 35 years in the teaching profession at SMC, my family has played a prominent role in supporting me morally and emotionally. The process of teaching may end here but the urge for learning still continues in my life,” he added. He thanked the former principals, correspondents, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and alumni for their support in his 35 years of teaching career.

Correspondent Fr. Stany Tauro and Campus Administrator of St. Mary’s and Don Bosco Institutions Dr. Anil Castelino also spoke on the occasion.

The programme began with an invocation by the college choir. Prof. Rajan V N, Principal of St. Mary’s College, Shirva welcomed the gathering. Prof. Gopal Krishna Samaga delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Dr. Padmanabha Bhat compered the programme.
