Udupi: Several trees and electric poles were uprooted after heavy rains coupled with gusty winds lashed the city on Thursday, June 18
Electric poles have been damaged at Mission Compound, Chandu Maidan, Bailur and other places in the city.
A huge tree was uprooted near Hindusthan Saw Mill at Bailur, Korangrapdi damaging transformers and electric poles. Repairs of the electric poles and wires is underway. The power supply in Bailur area was disrupted and a house has been damaged near Chandu Maidan after a huge tree fell over it.
Residents complain that damage to the electric poles was due to MESCOM’s failure to chop the branches of trees near the poles.
