ULB Elections – BJP Wins in Puttur, Majority Seats for Congress in Bantwal and Ullal

Mangaluru: The Congress party has gained the majority of seats in the Ullal ULB elections winning 13 out of the 31 seats after the counting was completed here on September 3.

After the counting of the polls, the Congress has won 13 seats, SDPI 6, BJP 6, JD(S) 4 and independent 3.

Of the 31 seats, the Congress has won the majority of the seats in ULB elections in Ullal constituency. In one of the ward, the Congress and BJP candidates ended up with a tie. Later the winner was decided by drawing the lots and BJP candidate Rajesh was the lucky winner.

In Bantwal the counting of polls was completed and the Congress won 12 seats, BJP 11 and SDPI 4 out of the 27 seats. To have a clear majority a minimum of 14 seats are needed. The counting of the polls began at 8:00 am in the Bantwal Mini Vidhana Soudha.

In Puttur the BJP has swept the polls winning 25 seats out of the 31. The Congress party has managed to win only 5 seats and the SDPI has won only one seat.
