Union Govt Should Bring strict Law against Gau Rakshaks – Parameshwar

Mangaluru: Home minister Dr G Parameshwer visited the Police commissionerate here on August 26.

After receiving the guard of honour at the police commissionerate Dr G Parameshwar speaking to the meidapersons said that in the name of Gau Raksha a number of assaults and murders are happening in the country. The central government should take the decision and implement a strict law to tackle such situations.

Parameshwar further said that prime minister Narendra Modi himself has asked the state government to collect information of people who create problems in the name of Gau Rakshaks, but in the coastal belt in the name of Gau Raksha innocents have been killed. The law will take its own course, no one can take the law into their hands, he added.

When asked about the rumours of youth from the coastal area joining ISIS, Parameshwar said that we are alert and working on it by strengthening the internal security. If we get any information about any organization encouraging the youths to join ISIS we will take action against such organization. After a youth from Kasargod joined the ISIS we have taken all the measures in this regard.

When asked about the salary hike of Policemen, Parameshwar said, “We have formed committees and are collecting data of orderlies from across the State, once we get the data we will scrap the orderly system.

When asked about counselling and the transfer of the teachers based on the strength of the students, Parameshwar said, “The education department has decided to transfer teachers based on counselling and strength of the students in the schools. In Puttur Haradi, we have considered it as a special case and withdrawn the transfer of the teachers.

When asked about the visit of former MP, youth leader and Kannada actress Ramya to Mangaluru, Parameshwar said, “We cannot sit inside because people protest. Some people purposely create problems, we cannot stop anyone from attending any programme. We have the congress leaders in Mangaluru, they will take care of the situation. People of Mangaluru are very nice and are known for their hospitality. I don’t believe that Mangaloreans will behave in such way. After Bengaluru, Mangaluru is the fastest developing city. incidents like these do not suit Mangaluru”.

When asked about the rumours of the involvement of Police in the delay in the investigation of Bhaskar Shetty murder case, Parameshwar said that the truth will come out soon. The case has been handed over to CID and we are waiting for the report.

IGP Western Range Arun Chakravarthy, Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar, SP Bhushan G Borase, DCP L&O Shantharaju, DCP Dr Sanjeev Patil and others were also present.
