Vijender discusses boxing’s future with Haryana CM

New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) Posterboy of Indian boxing, Vijender Singh called on Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to discuss the development of sports in the state and the country here on Monday.

Olympics 2008 bronze medallist Vijender, who recently turned pro, is on a vacation to India with his family and met Khattar at Haryana Bhawan.

During the meeting, Khattar discussed with Vijender the plans of his government for the further development of sports in the state and the 30-year-old pugilist extended his full support to the Chief Minister for it.

“Khattar discussed with me about the future of boxing in our country and the development of sports in our state. As we all know that Haryana has produced many international star players in different sports in the last few years, so I want this to continue in future also and I extend my full support to Khattar for the development and promotion of sports in Haryana,” Vijender said in a release.

Khattar also congratulated Vijender for two consecutive wins in his professional career and assured him full support for future.

“I am pleased to meet our chief minister and thanked him for extending his full support in the debut of my professional career. Khattar is very happy with my performance and he congratulated me for two back to back wins. I am happy that he is following my professional fights very closely,” Vijender added.
