We Oppose Reduction of Liquor Consumption age by State Govt to 18 – MLA U T Khader
Mangaluru: “The BJP government has proposed to reduce the liquor consumption age from 21 to 18 which the Congress party strongly condemns. BJP is trying to destroy the future of the youth. We want to strengthen the future of our youth but the BJP is pushing them to consume alcohol once they complete 18 years”, alleged former minister and MLA of Ullal constituency U T Khader in a press meet held at the Congress Bhavan, Mallikatta here on January 18.
Addressing the media persons U T Khader said, “The State government has proposed to reduce the minimum age to 18 to purchase and consume alcohol. The BJP government is trying to spoil our youth to fill their coffers. By hiking the price of the day-to-day commodities and charging GST on them, the BJP has proved that it is not a pro-people party”.
Khader further said, “The BJP government is interested in filling their coffers by reducing liquor consumption age to 18, without realizing the consequences of their proposal. We demand that the government withdraw the proposal immediately, if not, in the coming elections, the people of the state will give BJP a befitting reply”.
