We will Assess the CD and Take Action Against Prabhakar Bhat – Mahesh Karjagi

Mangaluru: “We will take action against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat if he has violated the Model code of conduct. I have received the complaint against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat and instructed the flying squad to assess the CD. If there is any violation case will be booked against Prabhakar Bhat”, said the assistant commissioner and Returning officer of Mangaluru constituency Mahesh Karjagi in a press meet at the Mini Vidhana Soudha here on April 7.

Mahesh Karjagi further said, “Those who do not respect the constitution, we will not hesitate to take action against them. It is the duty and responsibility of every citizen to respect the constitution.”

Mahesh Karjagi also said, “The Election commission has taken all the measures for the smooth functioning of the forthcoming elections. The District Congress president had approached the DC and submitted a memorandum to take action against Prabhakar Bhat for violating the Model code of conduct. They have also submitted a copy to us. We will assess the CD and if there is any violation I have directed the flying squad to book a case against the person who had made derogatory remarks. In the Konaje police station, a case has been filed for violation of model code of conduct and the police will take action.”

When asked whether permission is needed to hold any functions, Mahesh Karjagi said, “If the police have no objection in holding programmes in a particular place, programmes can be held. But in case if they affect the law and order situation, we will take action. Sometimes when there is a private function, political leaders will come and take advantage which is a violation of the model code of conduct. So we request the organizers not to allow any political leaders to take advantage of the function and canvass for votes”.
