Website Impact! MCC Cleans Up the Mess Left Behind of Trimmed tree Branches on Footpaths

Mangaluru : Talk about the power of media, especially Electronic media where we highlight the civic issues and within few hours or few days the concerned authorities who can’t bear the criticism about their negligence, quickly get into action and rectify the civic issues. In the past Mangalorean.com has highlighted various civic issues through our website, and there has been a tremendous effect with most of the problems being fixed in no time, from rectifying dilapidated roads, open drainage, non-friendly footpaths, dog menace etc etc

Following the report by Team Mangalorean about the ignorance of Mangaluru City Corporation workers leaving behind a bunch of trimmed tree branches on the footpaths and road (Ref: Swachh Abuse! After MESCOM, It’s MCC Dirtying the City with Trimmed Tree Branches  ) Team Mangalorlean noticed that MCC workers were cleaning all the debris on the footpaths, along the stretch of the St Agnes College Road until Bendorewell, Mangaluru. Even though, Mescom has not cleaned the mess left behind by them, of the trimmed tree branches since more than a week,( where most of it is rotten due to rains) Ref: MCC should take Action & Fine MESCOM for Dirtying the City with Trimmed Tree Branches ), it’s nice to note that MCC reacted quickly in the clean up, and Team Mangalorean appreciates their response.

BEFORE WEBSITE IMPACT…….

It usually happens prior to the start of monsoons, when MCC and Mescom workers start pruning trees to prevent damage to power lines, and also for the safety of pedestrians/motorists in case of heavy rain and gusty winds. That’s a nice thing what Mescom and MCC is doing, however, the worst part is that once they are done pruning/cutting of tree branches, they leave the cut branches on the road side or on the footpath, and the mess lies there for days and weeks- until someone calls and complaints to the both parties. But in the meantime, the tree branches are either rotten or dried up, creating more garbage. Is this how these two civic bodies work-abusing Mangaluru Swachtha and putting citizens in hardship and inconvenience moving around in the City.

On 29 July, a bunch of MCC workers were engaged in pruning tree branches along the stretch of from St Agnes College Road until Bendorewell junction in the City, and after their work was done these workers out of ignorance left a huge pile of these trimmed branches, making it hard for pedestrians to walk on the footpath- and also there pieces of tree barks scattered on the streets, which was dangerous for two-wheeler riders. They didn’t had the slightest courtesy to see that the citizens don’t face any inconveniences or safety hazards due to their negligence. Many a times the pruned branches affect clearance of pavements- and no one cares about it.

…….AFTER WEBSITE IMPACT

A slight carefulness by these Mescom and MCC workers could have prevented all this mess from happening- but it has been that way since ages, and no one wants to correct themselves. Oh well, this is Mangaluru- MCC and Mescom! But whatever be the case, leaving behind a big mess of pruned tree branches, is totally the act of ignorance and carelessness. Another outcome of the lack of coordination is that cut branches are dumped on pavements. The civic body takes a long time to clear them, which inconveniences pedestrians.

This is the mess left behind of trimmed branches by Mescom workers a week ago, and are rotten now

Don’t you think it would be a smart idea from Yours Truly of Team Mangalorean, even though we have Smart People working in MCC and Mescom- that while the trimming of branches is done, a truck should follow these workers wherever they are working, so that the trimmed branches could be loaded right into the truck rather than leave them at the spot for days causing inconveniences for the public, and also creating a menace. And, if both, MCC and Mescom, take this idea from Team Mangalorean, we will not see any debris left behind, thereby keep Mangaluru Swachh aka CLEAN! Anyways, Team Mangalorean once again wants to thank MCC for their quick action following our report.
