Workshop on Ergonomics” at Xavier Industrial Training Centre (XITC), Assaigoli in the outskirts of Mangaluru, by Fr Muller Medical College-Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Xavier Industrial Training Centre in collaboration with Father Muller Medical College, (Department of Physiotherapy ) conducted a “Workshop on Ergonomics” at XITC, Assaigoli on 29 November 2017. The Programme began with a Prayer song rendered by Sunil Crasta, J.T.O. at XITC. Chairman of Xavier Educational Trust, JJV Fernandes welcomed the dignitaries and gave a brief introduction of XET and its Objectives. The Programme was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by the dignitaries present on the dais.

The Resource person’s for the Work-shop were Dr. Sudeep M. J. Pais, MPT, Associate Professor & Head of Department, Department of Physiotherapy, FMMC; Dr. Cherishma D’silva, MPT – Associate Professor, FMMC; and Dr. Mohini Shah, MPT – Practical Session In-charge, FMMC, and Team of Doctors

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sudeep Pais emphasized the need of “Ergonomics” (a branch of Physiotherapy) in our daily life to solve work related muscular disorders. He mentioned that a nation’s development depends mainly on its work-force. If the Work-force is healthy the Nation is strong. The problems created by muscular disorders caused while dealing with equipments and tools could be reduced to a large extent by Ergonomics. The students undergoing Technical education should be taught the importance of Ergonomics. He complimented the Chairman & the Board of Trustees of XET for the good work they were doing in shaping the career of students who in-turn would shape the country’s future.

Dr. Cherishma D’silva, Dr. Mohini Shah & the Team of doctors spoke on the benefits of Physiotherapy & suggested some physical Exercises with appropriate demonstrations. The Session was very informative and the demonstrations provided by them were found to be useful for the students in their technical career. The students of XITC will always cherish these valuable inputs provided and look forward to practice them in their career.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ronald Fernandes, Trustee, who thanked the Team of Doctors, Chairman, Principal & Staff of XITC for their valuable contributions. The Programme was efficiently compered by Shivanand, J.T.O.
