Yakshamithraru to Stage ‘Lokabhirama’ on 20th Annual day
UAE: “Yakshamithraru” one of the oldest organizations in the Gulf region, which promotes ‘Yakshagana’, the rich and unique folk art of Tulunadu will be celebrating their 20th annual day on 04 June 2023 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium with “Lokabhirama” penned by Veteran Yakshagana artiste, Abhinava Valmiki late Bottikere Purushotham Poonja.
Amateur members of Yakshamithraru every year perform Yakshagana with the main intention to preserve the traditional and ancient form of art for generations to come. Yakshamithraru continuously trains and provides a free opportunity to all those who are keen and interested towards Yakshagana and motivate many more children and the young generation to participate enthusiastically.
The Muhurtha puja, Prasangabhyasa and meeting was held in Dubai recently to discuss the upcoming mega Yakshagana “Lokabhirama” with the presence of several Yakshagana lovers and artists.
Muhurtha puja was traditionally performed by Purohit Bhavani Shanker Sharma and Venkatesh Shastri. Under the guidance of Yakshaguru Kishore Gatty Prasangabhyasa session was carried out which involved many artists and young children presenting their skills.
Later the meeting traditionally started with prayers by a senior member of Yakshamithraru Ravindra Uchil, who explained details of Yakshasambram 2023 and “Lokabhirama” and added that from India, talented Bhagavatharu Dinesh Ammannaya and Ganesh Rao Hebri, in Chande – Shridhar Vitla, Maddale- Rohith Uchila, Costume- Jayanth, noted Yakshagana artists Radha Krishna Navada, Jayaprakash Permude, Mohan Amunje, Arun Kotian, Akshay Bhat, Chandrashekar Dharmasthala will be performing along with team Yakshamithraru.
Yakshagana well-wisher Padmaraj Yekkar, Giridhar Nayak, Prabhakar Suvarna, Sathish Shetty, Shodhan Prasad and Sathish Ullal were present on the dias and extended their full support for the success of the mega event.
Meantime Veteran Yakshagana supporter Giridhar Nayak remembered the Late Umesh Nanthoor and their family who played a key role in bringing the first show of Yakshagana to the Gulf region. The same legacy was carried forward by Chidananda Poojary with Yakshagana supporters and lovers from Karnataka to keep in touch with this folklore art form, which is close to their hearts.
Yakshamithraru remembered the contributions of the late Bottikere Purushotham Poonja and Vittal Shetty in the field of Yakshagana and paid tribute with a silent prayer.
Ravi Kotian briefed about the budget for the events. Vignesh Kundapur hosted the programme systematically. A large number of Yakshagana fans and several other prominent personalities gathered and made the meeting successful.
