Yettinahole to Provide Water for Kolar, Which Project for DK? – Dinesh Holla

What Measures has the government taken to Solve the DK Water Crisis!

Mangaluru: The members of the Sahyadri Sanchaya organised “Nadi Vana Rodana” against the Yettinahole project and the destruction of Western ghats in front of the DC office here on March 21.

Addressing the protesters, founder of Sahyadri Sanchaya Dinesh Holla said that the ministers, MLAs and the MP from Dakshina Kannada district should discuss the Yettinahole project with the people of Mangaluru. The elected representatives do not know the meaning of “Paschima Vahini” project but Rs 100 crore has been reserved for it. At present, there is a scarcity of water in Mangaluru and the state government has already announced Dakshina Kannada and Udupi as drought affected areas. To provide water to Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, the state government has taken up the Yettinahole project, but when Dakshina Kannada itself is facing a water crisis, which river will be diverted to provide water to DK? We need an answer from the state government.”

Dinesh Holla also said, “The government is wasting the tax payers money to provide water to Kolar and Chikkaballapur. In the name of Yettinahole project crores of Rupees have been wasted. Now the new Paschima Vahini project is another way to make money”, he alleged.

Member of the Sahyadri Sanchaya Harikrishna Punaroor said, “When the Netravati river and the Western Ghats will be destroyed, our Tulunadu culture and heritage will vanish. The government should stop the Yettinahole project since in Mangaluru we are facing a severe water crisis. If human beings are finding difficulty to get water what is the fate of the birds and animals? he questioned.

Members of Sahyadri Sanchaya Dinesh Pai Kateel and others were also present. Students from Gopadkar School presented a song “Nadi Vana Rodana”.
