28-year-old Youth Drowns in Temple Pond in Saligrama
Udupi: A 28-year-old youth drowned in the temple pond at Saligrama on Monday, August 5.
The deceased has been identified as Vinod Ganiga (28) resident of Karkada near Saligrama.
According to the police, Vinod and his friend went to Saligrama Temple to offer a special Puja as part of Nagara Panchami. Both of them got down in the pond to take a dip, Vinod slipped and fell in the deeper side of the pond and drowned. Other devotees rushed to his help but were unable to save him. Later, they informed the Kota Police who reached the place and retrieved the body from the pond with the help of locals.
