The AIMIM has planned to hold a huge rally on Shivajinagar BBMP ground on Feb 21. Owaisi was invited as the star speaker at the meeting. Citing chances of his making a fiery speech which could lead to disturbance of peace, Reddi has banned his entry into the city for a week.

On Feb 9, local unit president Syed Tabrez had sought the permission of the police to hold the meeting. The event is likely to go ahead without any hindrance, but Owaisi will be conspicuous by his absence.

It may be recalled here that VHP leader Praveeen Togadia too had been barred from entering the city on similar grounds.
