More information about storytelling and reading books:

Stories are a fantastic way for children to store information in their brains. If a teacher gives children facts and figures with an interlinking story, it enables them organize and remember information better and helps them to tie the facts together. Even children with low motivation and weak academic skills are willing to read, write and try to understand things when they are put across through stories. Stories and book reading help children develop a positive attitude towards the learning process and many shy children open up and learn to communicate better.

Stories and books help students to develop an understanding, respect and appreciation for other cultures, and can promote a positive attitude to people from different lands, races and religions. Children have to remember key the characters and understand the plot and context of stories. This is an excellent exercise in memorization and visualization skills. Books also help children consider new, innovative ideas and build adaptive skills by telling their own stories. This creativity carries over into all other aspects of their life as well.
