Brahmavar: One-and-a-Half-Year-Old Boy Dies After Coconut Falls on His Head

Brahmavar: A heartbreaking tragedy struck Heranje near Brahmavar when a one-and-a-half-year-old boy lost his life after a coconut fell from a tree and struck him on the head.

The deceased has been identified as Daksh Poojary (1.5), son of Prashanth Poojary and Suchitra Poojary of Heranje. He is survived by his parents and his six-year-old sister, Diya, a Class 1 student at an English-medium school in Brahmavar.

According to reports, the tragic incident occurred at around 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Suchitra Poojary was carrying Daksh while accompanying her daughter to the school bus when a coconut suddenly fell from a roadside coconut tree, estimated to be around 40 feet tall. The coconut struck the child directly on the head, causing severe injuries.

Daksh was immediately rushed to KMC Hospital in Manipal for emergency treatment. Doctors performed surgery in an effort to save his life, but the child had sustained critical brain injuries due to the impact. Despite intensive medical care and all efforts by the medical team, he succumbed to his injuries.

Prashanth Poojary, who has been operating a small fast-food cart near Gandhi Maidan in Brahmavar for the past 13 years, has been supporting his family through the business. The untimely death of the young boy has plunged the family into profound grief.

The tragic incident has also sent shockwaves through the local community, with relatives, neighbours and well-wishers expressing sorrow over the loss of the child. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the unforeseen dangers posed by falling coconuts, particularly in areas lined with tall coconut trees.

The family is struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss of their beloved son, whose life was cut short in a tragic accident.
