Chain Snatcher Arrested, Gold and Silver Ornaments Worth Rs 15 Lakh Recovered

Bengaluru: The police from the Hoskote Sub Division, Avalahalli arrested a Chain Snatcher, and recovered 305 grams of gold and 162 Grams of Silver ornaments worth Rs 15.25 Lakh from his possession on September 19.

The arrested has been identified as Suresh alias Appi (27) from Muneshwar Nagar Ramamurthy Nagar, Bengaluru.

According to the police, Umesh along with wife Anitha and son Chiranth Gowda residing at Bidarahalli Village and rearing cattle. On September 4, at around 11:15 am, a stranger arrived in a red colour scooter and told them that he had built a new house in the adjacent layout and was going to perform the Puja. The stranger also requested Umesh to give him a cow for the house warming ceremony and the Puja. Umesh agreed to send him a cow for the House warming and the Puja.

When Umesh and his son were taking the cow to Suresh’s House, Suresh said that he had forgotten to bring the Puja items and he will get it from the nearby shop. Instead of going to the shop, Suresh went to Umesh’s house as he was aware that his wife Anitha was alone at home. Suresh went to Umesh’s House and snatched the gold chain from Anitha’s neck and fled.

In this connection, a case was filed in the Avalahalli Police Station under section 392 IPC.

Based on the complaint, the Avalahalli police arrested Suresh and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 15.25 lakh from his possession.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Suresh had committed three house thefts in addition to the chain snatching theft under the Avalahalli police station limits. He was also involved in the chain snatching case under the Mahadevpura police station limits, chain snatching case Under K R Puram, police station Limits, House theft under Hoskote Police station Limits, and chain snatching case under Anugondanahalli Police Station limits. He was involved in 8 cases, and the police were successful in recovering 305 Grams of gold and 162 Grams of Silver ornaments all worth Rs 15.25 lakh from his possession.

Under the guidance of M Ravi D Channannavar, IPS, Bangalore Rural District, M Lakshmi Ganesh, SP of crime branch, Bangalore District and M N B Sakri KSPS Dy SP of Hosakote Sub Division the operation was carried out by the Hoskote Circle Inspector Shivaraj V D and Sub Inspector of Police Avalahalli M Pradeep Poojary, Syed Afroz, Manu V K, Dattatreya, Afroz Khan, Venkataraju, Ramanjini, TM Lokesh, Srinivas M R and team.

Considering the theft incidents, the police department has requested the owners of the villas and layouts to take necessary precautions while they are away from their house. Valuables like Cash, Gold and Silver ornaments should be kept safely in bank lockers if the owners go out for vacation or tours, they should be careful of strangers who come to them with various reasons like asking for address etc. Do not wear valuable ornaments while going out alone. The delivery of milk and paper should be stopped when people are not at home for several days. Maintaining a good relationship with neighbours is important to tackle crimes.
