Festival symbolising unbreakable bond of love: CM Yogi extends Raksha Bandhan greetings

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday extended heartfelt greetings to the people on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, describing the festival as a celebration of love, trust, traditions and affection.

In a post on X, CM Yogi said: “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the people of the state on the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan, which embodies love, trust, traditions, and affection.”

The Chief Minister said Raksha Bandhan symbolises the unbreakable bond of love between brothers and sisters and urged people to use the occasion to strengthen the country’s cultural heritage and family values.

“Let us, on this holy festival symbolizing the unbreakable bond of love between brother and sister, all resolve to strengthen our eternal cultural heritage and family values,” he said.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also extended his greetings to people on the occasion, describing Raksha Bandhan as a symbol of the sacred bond between brothers and sisters.

“Heartfelt wishes to all on the sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan, symbolizing the holy bond of love, affection, and trust between brother and sister,” Rijiju said in a post on X.

“May God bless everyone’s life with happiness, prosperity, and joy,” he added.

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari also greeted people on the occasion.

“This sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan is a symbol of the love, affection, and commitment between brother and sister. Heartfelt wishes to all countrymen on this sacred festival of Raksha Bandhan,” Gadkari said.

Raksha Bandhan is traditionally celebrated with sisters tying a sacred thread, known as a Rakhi, around their brothers’ wrists. The ritual symbolises affection and the sister’s prayers for her brother’s long life, health, prosperity and well-being.

Brothers, in turn, traditionally reaffirm their affection and commitment towards their sisters and pledge to protect and support them.

Beyond the traditional ritual, Raksha Bandhan is also an occasion for families to come together, exchange greetings and gifts, and reaffirm the values of love, trust, affection and togetherness.
