Kerala Youth Arrested for Reckless Driving in Manipal
Udupi: A 26-year-old man from Kerala was apprehended by Manipal Police on Friday, August 11, following allegations of dangerous and reckless driving in the vicinity of Manipal. Shohail Neelakath, a resident of Kandagan, Kannur, Kerala, was taken into custody along with his vehicle after the incident that transpired near the MIT Junction in Manipal on Monday morning.
Law enforcement officials report that Mr. Neelakath was driving from Udupi towards Hiriyadka in a manner that posed a significant risk to public safety. His vehicle, bearing fully tinted windows, was allegedly operated with a blatant disregard for the well-being of other commuters. Witnesses claim that the driver was observed making deafening noises, swerving erratically across the road, and narrowly avoiding collisions with two-wheeled vehicles and different automobiles. These actions, authorities contend, constituted a clear and present danger to human life.
Responding to the reports of hazardous driving, Manipal Police initiated a pursuit of the vehicle, successfully intercepting and taking it into custody along with Mr. Neelakath near the MIT Junction. A formal case has been registered against the individual at the Manipal Police Station, and further investigations are currently underway to determine the full extent of the violations and to ensure appropriate legal action is taken. Local authorities have reiterated their commitment to maintaining road safety and preventing reckless behavior that endangers the lives of citizens.
