Mangalore Diocese Expresses Profound Grief, Sympathy, and Solidarity with the Flood-Affected People of Nepal

Mangaluru: The Diocese of Mangalore, under the leadership of its Bishop, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, expresses its deep shock, profound grief, and heartfelt solidarity with the people of Nepal following the catastrophic flash floods and landslides that have devastated several regions of the country.

In a joint statement issued by the Diocesan Public Relations Officers (PROs), Rev. Fr Rupesh Ashok Madtha and Mr Roy Castelino, the diocese conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and homes in this immense natural tragedy.

“Our hearts are heavy as we receive the distressing news of the massive loss of lives, widespread displacement, and severe destruction of infrastructure caused by the recent floods in Nepal. Disasters of this magnitude transcend geographical boundaries and test the resilience of humanity. In this hour of profound trial, the Catholic community of Mangalore stands firmly in prayer and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Nepal—belonging to all faiths, communities, and backgrounds,” the statement read.

The diocese commended the relentless efforts of rescue personnel, volunteers, and humanitarian agencies working tirelessly under dangerous conditions to search for the missing and provide relief to the survivors.

Urging the faithful and people of goodwill to keep the victims in their prayers, the Bishop and diocesan leadership prayed that Almighty God grant eternal rest to the departed souls, speedy recovery to the injured, and comfort to all those grieving or displaced by the calamity.
