SVEEP Election Mobile Van Flagged Off in City by DC Sasikanth Senthil

Mangaluru: Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. Since 2009, SVEEP has been working towards preparing India’s electors and equipping them with basic knowledge related to the electoral process.

SVEEP’s primary goal is to build a truly participative democracy in India by encouraging all eligible citizens to vote and make an informed decision during the elections. The programme is based on multiple general as well as targeted interventions which are designed according to the socio-economic, cultural and demographic profile of the state as well as the history of electoral participation in previous rounds of elections and learning thereof.

And here, the DK District Administration has begun preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The SVEEP ( Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) Election mobile van was flagged off by DC Sasikanth Senthil today 16 March 2019 at the DC office campus, joined by MCC Commissioner Mohammed Nazir, DK Zilla Panchayath CEO Selvamani R, among others. Speaking on the occasion DC said that all measures are being taken to ensure a free, fair and transparent election process. The SVEEP committee led by ZP CEO is also organising various programmes, in order to educate voters, added DC.

ZP CEO Selvamani said, “Every effort would be made to create awareness on the importance of voting among citizens, especially youngsters. Presently we have launched one SVEEP mobile van to bring awareness about the elections in the City, and pretty soon two more such vans will be added to spread the awareness in the rural areas. The main focus was on enrolling voters, particularly youth, in the voters list. Since 18 April 2019 is the election date for us, there is lot more to be done, and the DK administration is gearing with all the needed requirements and procedures”.
