Three Arrested for Attacking Man with Machete and Iron Rod in Bantwal
Bantwal: Bantwal Rural Police have arrested three persons in connection with an alleged assault on a man with a machete and an iron rod. The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to three days of police custody for further investigation.
The incident reportedly took place on the evening of September 20 at Kammaje in Tenka Bellur village of Bantwal taluk.
According to a complaint filed by Prashanth Belchad (41), a resident of Tenka Bellur, the accused—Prashanth (38) of Ammunje, Ramdas (43) of Tenka Bellur and Shankar (45) of Badaga Bellur—arrived at the spot in an autorickshaw and allegedly attacked him with a machete and an iron rod.
Prashanth Belchad sustained serious bleeding injuries in the attack and was subsequently admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru. According to the complaint, the accused fled the scene after noticing people known to the injured man arriving at the spot.
A case was registered at the Bantwal Rural Police Station under Crime No. 124/2026 for offences under Sections 109, 352 and 351, read with Section 3(5), of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
As the investigation progressed, police arrested the three accused—Prashanth, Ramdas and Shankar. They were produced before the court on September 25, which granted three days of police custody for further interrogation.
Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
