Udupi: A 50-year-old multi-storey building Royal Mahal collapsed near Chittaranjan Circle Udupi on September 18. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The mishap occurred on the Maruthi Veethika Road around 1:00 pm when one portion of the building collapsed.
When one portion of the building collapsed, people from the neighbouring shops immediately rushed out. Locals immediately alerted the police and the Fire and Emergency Services Department. As a precautionary measure, the police evacuated all the occupants of the building.
When the building collapsed, an electricity wire passing close to the structure snapped, resulting disruption of power supply in the surrounding area.
Udupi City Municipality commissioner, Udupi Town PSI Sakthivelu and other officials visited the spot.
