District Admin to Hold Two-day Workshop on Action plan for PAN city solution

Mangaluru: “A two-day preparation Workshop to finalize the Action plan for PAN city solution will be held on February 3 and 4, at Hotel Ocean Pearl”, said the Mayor of Mangaluru city corporation Harinath in a press meet held at the MCC premises here on February 2.

Addressing the mediapersons Mayor Harinath said, “The purpose of the KSCP preparation workshop is to get all the city senior management teams of the 7 selected smart cities together to brainstorm for the mammoth task of implementing the SC projects under Gol’s 100 SC Programme. Such a meet is expected to bring all the senior city officials, World Bank consulting resources, senior officials of the government of Karnataka and KUIDFC together to discuss and finalize the implementation plan and arrangement for the Smart city project of the state.”

He further said, “Such an exercise shall go a long way in putting all the project activities in perspective, create a detailed project implementation plan, get budgetary allocation for individual projects into perspective and put in place a capacity building and change management plan for the project implementation. Such an exercise shall also facilitate finalization of the implementation arrangements for the smart city project of the state.”

Addressing the mediapersons MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazir said, “The two-day KSCP preparation workshop is expected to develop the SC ICT solution plan for individual smart city components and their detailed implementation plan for SC ICT solutions complete with time lines, budgetary allocation, implementation plan and capacity building plan. The workshop will also deliberate on the evolving smart city knowledge platform, some of the prototypes that are under development for smart cities possibilities of study tours to other smart cities like Seoul, identifying specific projects across city verticals and the scaling up the methodology for the proven pilots”.

Nazir also said, “The workshop shall also bring together all the city officials from various implementing agencies and put in perspective the “common implementation arrangements” for the project. This shall facilitate creating a Common SC Road Map for all agencies involved in the project implementation of the project in the state. The workshop will also discuss and agree on a common set of results indicators and a baseline survey will be planned to collect baseline data for monitoring and evaluation of the SC project at regular intervals for the duration of the project”.

The two-day preparation Workshop “Smart City Mission”, will be inaugurated by the minister for Urban Development and Haj, Roshan Baig along with District minister in-charge Ramanath Rai, Minister U T Khader, Mayor Harinath. Four delegates from Seoul, Korea and 4 officials from the World bank will be attending the workshop. Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLA J R Lobo, MLA Moideen Bava, Suresh Ballal, Shashank Ojha, Mahendra Jain (IAS), Bharat Lal Meena (IAS), Srivatsa Krishna (IAS) and V Poonuraj (IAS) will be the guests of honour.

Kavitha Sanil, Sashidhar Hegde, Gokuldas, and others were also present.
