Forget Nehru Maidan? Muslim Organizations All Set for Peace Protest against CAA/NRC at Adyar Venue on 15 January 2020. More details of the Peaceful protest will be briefed by the Committee during a Press Meet to be held at Hotel Ocean Pearl today (8 January) at 3 pm.

Mangaluru: Tit-for-Tat, when State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai had instructed the DK and Udupi Muslim Central Committee to postpone the peaceful protest that was planned by the Committee against CAA and NRC at Nehru Maidan on 4 January 2020, and also that the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Dr P S Harsha was reluctant to give permission to hold the protest at Nehru Maidan, giving reasons about law and order situations, and also about traffic chaos due to one-way road stretch near Nehru Maidan, the Muslim Committee even though they agreed for the postponement of the protest, but were so determined to have their peace protest as soon as possible, have now found their own land/venue near Kannur/Adyar, on Mangaluru-Bengaluru Highway, ( next to Shell Petrol Station) & right across from Badriya Juma Masjid & Hazrath Sheique Valiyullahi Yusuf Siddeque (Q S) Darga-Kannur/Adyar, on the outskirts of Mangaluru.

The Peaceful protest against Central Amendment Act and National Registry for Citizens by D K and Udupi Muslim Central Committee is planned in association with nearly 30 other organizations, and 15 January 2020 date has been fixed. Leader of Muslim Central Committee Haji Kodijal Ibrahim, (former MUDA Chairman) speaking to Team Mangalorean said, “After Police denied permission to hold the protest at Nehru Maidan, we have now shifted to a venue at Adyar, a 15 acre land belonging to three persons”

He further said, ” The location is right across the highway from Kannur/Adyar Juma Masjid. and will hold the same on a spacious 15 acre of land in front of the Adyar Kannur central Juma Masjid. We have got all the required permission from the police and other concerned authorities, and all parking arrangements have been made. We the Committee leaders had inspected the venue on 6 January, and decided to have the peaceful protest here. More details about the protest will be briefed during the Press Meet to be held at Hotel Ocean Pearl today ( 8 January at 3 pm)”


Including Haji Kodijal Ibrahim, other Muslim Central committee members who joined in inspecting the venue were- B M Mumtaz Ali, S M Rashid Haji, Hanif Haji Bunder, Basha Tangal, Salim Sufikhan and ACP Kodandarama of Mangaluru south sub division with Inspector Amanullah.
