Dr Jalaluddin further said, “When Nadia came to me, I gave her some medicine to shrink the tumor so that we could carry out a surgery and remove the tumor. I along with Orthopedic Surgeons Dr lmtiaz, Dr Abhishek and Anaesthetist Dr Vincent performed a complex surgical procedure to remove recurrent cancerous tumour to save the limb using mega prosthesis. This is a very long surgery of 8 hours and it has been done for the first time in India. Now the girl can lead a normal life with minimal disability.

Dr Jalaluddin also said that the people of Karnataka are very lucky to have medical facilities because of the able Health minister who has brought many health schemes for the BPL card holders. The patient is from Kannur and she does not have any medical schemes from the government and her parents have spent Rs 1.8 for her surgery. If there was a health scheme for her, the surgery would have been done free of cost, he said.

Dr Abhishek speaking on the occasion said, “This is the first time I am assisting a lengthy surgery of 8 hours. Now Nadia can lead a normal life.

Dr Devanand Shetty, Dr Vincent, Dr Imtiaz and Bhasker Aras were also present.
