Tribute to Basaveshwara & Visit to Mysore Road by H.H.Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, The 27th head of The of Kingdom of Mysore
His Highness Shri Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the 27th head of The of Kingdom of Mysore will be paying tribute to Basaveshwara statue in London and will walk along the famous Mysore road in London on 8th December 2018 at 12:00 noon.
He will be joined by members of British Indian & Kannada community and the Former Mayor of The London Borough of Lambeth Dr Neeraj Patil.
The Mysore road in London derives its name because the recruitment centre for The British Mysore regiment was located at this site during the 18th century during the British Rule.
The Basaveshwara statue in London is the first conceptual statue approved by the British Cabinet in the vicinity of the British Parliament in the United Kingdom. This place is located at Albert Embankment in London opposite the British Parliament and is a famous tourist destination to many Indians who visit London.
The statue project was approved by the planning department of The London borough of Lambeth and subsequently by the British Cabinet minister for culture media and sports as per the Public Statues Act, 1854. The Basaveshwara statue and its vicinity is the intellectual property of the Basaveshwara Foundation.
The approval for the Basaveshwara statue was given as a mark of respect to Indian Philosopher and social reformer Basaveshwara for promoting democratic ideals, social justice and gender equality during the 12th century in Karnataka.
