Udupi Police arrest two in Rs 22 lakh cash stolen from house case

Udupi: In a swift operation the Udupi district police team on Saturday, September 14 arrested two persons in relation with the house robbery case at Olakadu, Udupi.

The Arrested have been identified as Athul Bagne resident of Sangli in Maharastra and Sandeep Chandrakanth.

On September 12 robbers stole Rs 22 lakh cash kept in the grocery boxes in the kitchen of a house. Sunanda Manikya Patil, a resident of Harishchandra Road, Olakadu, had gone to Mukundakripa School at around 12:15 pm to give lunch boxes to her children. When she returned, she was shocked to see the lock of her housebroken. She later found the kitchen ransacked and that her total savings of Rs 22 lakhs hidden in various grocery boxes had been stolen. Along with the cash, half kg silver articles, worth of Rs 30,000, were also stolen.

Atul was earlier working with her husband Manikya, a goldsmith. He was also a relative of her husband and was recently sacked for his suspicious behaviour.

Under the direction of SP Nisha James, ASP Kumarchandra, DySP Udupi T R Jaishanker the police team including Manjunath CPI Udupi,   Timmesh B N PSI Byndoor, officials Imran, Sangamesh, Nagendra, Krishna, Ashok Rathod and others participated in the arrest operation.
