Based on the High Court’s order, the district administration had banned animal sacrifice during jathras and other public events. The Kaup Maripuja is also facing these restrictions from the district administration.

Eighteen persons were found sacrificing hens in the footpaths of the National Highway 66 near Kaup Marigudi. The police soon detained them.

Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in-charge district, who flew on a special flight to Mangalore visited the temple and heard the grievances of the devotees. Speaking to the mediapersons, he said that district administration is following the court’s order. “A plea will be made to the High Court to review its stand on banning of animal sacrifice as it is associated with the sentiments of people,” he added.
