Bantwal: Suresh, hailng from Doddahalli in Chintamani taluk of Chikkaballapur taluk, was arrested by the Bantwal police at Kadegoli near Maripalla here in the early hours on May 15.
He was found possessing about 1.230 kg of ganja (hemp, cannabis) which was expected to fetch over Rs 1 lakh in illegal trade.
The police team was holding a random inspection of vehicles at Thumbay. On spotting the police, Suresh is said to have started running. He was given a chase and caught.
Besides finding the contraband in his possession, the police also extracted the information from him that he supplied it to different places in around like Melkar, Farangipet, Thumbay, Kadegoli and Maripalla.
The police have suspected that the man could not handle a trade of this dimension all by himself and there was certainly a network operating.
