Mangaluru APMC president Krishnaraj Hegde who had contested against him had filed an election appeal in a court in Karkala claiming that Lobo had taken advantage of the ‘B’ category reservation in spite of being an income tax assessee. This information was suppressed while filing the nomination, he had contended.

Hegde’s appeal was turned down and hence he filed an appeal in the state high court. After a year-long hearing, the high court’s single-judge bench presided over by Justice A V Chandrashekhar has recently invalidated the election. The petition has been disposed of with cost of appeal.

Hegde released the copies of the documents to the mediapersons. By virtue of his election being null and void, Lobo is likely to lose his position in the district planning committee as well.
