5 students Drown in Phalguni River, 4 bodies recovered
Mangaluru: Five students are feared drowned in the Phalguni River near Mularpatna here on November 6.
It is learnt that on November 6, being a holiday 5 students had gone for swimming in the Phalguni River near Mularpatna. Locals found the dress of 5 students lying on the shore until late night.
On November 7, one body was found in the Phalguni River. The rescue team is trying trace the others.
The five students, Savad, Azmal, Mubashir, Rameez and Aslam from Shuntihithlu Mularpatna, had gone for swimming on November 6 but did not return home until late night. The family members tried to call their mobiles but there was no response. On November 7 the family members together with the locals searched for them and found their dress along with the mobile phones on the riverside.
Being suspicious that the students may have drowned, they informed the local police and the fire personnel and continued to search for the students. During the search operations, Savad’s body was found under the bridge at Mularpatna. Later the body of Aslam was also found and the search is on for Azmal, Mubashir and Rameez.
Bantwal police Inspector Prasanna along with his team are on the spot and search is on for others.
