Amid Opposition, DC Arranges to Bury Body of 31-year-old Man at Bolar

Mangaluru: The locals of Bolar opposed the burial of 31-year-old man from Iddya, Suratkal who died of COVID-19 on June 27, at the Wenlock COVID hospital.

Earlier it was decided to bury the body at the Iddya Burial ground belonging to the Iddya Masjid, but because of to rain, the water had filled the dug up graves. So the community leaders decided to bury the body at the Bolar Mosque burial ground. When the body reached the burial ground, locals opposed it. So the body was again taken to Chokkabettu for burial.

When the body reached Chokkabettu, Deputy commissioner Sindhu Roopesh called the authorities and instructed them to bring the body back to Bolar as the district administration had already identified the place for the burial of Muslims.

After receiving the call from DC, the body was taken back to Bolar for burial.

Speaking to mangalorean.com, one of the community leaders said, “We have already kept four graves ready at the Bolar burial ground. But the locals did not allow to bury the body there. We are now digging the 5th grave to bury the body.”

  1. It is very disturbing to see the educated people of Mangaluru opposing the burial of unfortunate victims of COVID-19. WHO and other authorities have clearly said COVID-19 does not spread from te body once buried/cremated. Then why opposition. Today anyone can google and get the right information. Then why oppose based on some crappy whatsapp posts?

Also, I want to bring to the attention of Mangalorean.com, a small glitch in the report. English report says Bolar and Kannada one says Bolur. Which one is correct?
