Hassan / Chikkamagaluru: A flash report in these columns had mentioned the minor tremors felt in Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru taluk early Wednesday morning.
Later on reports trickled in from elsewhere too. Uppalli, Aldur, Vastara, steel bridge, Malalur in Chikkamagaluru taluk, Mudigere town, Daradahalli, Gutti, Gonibeedu, Devavrinda, Banakal, Kottigehara and Kundur, Herur, Hiregadde adn Basrikatte in in N R Pura taluk felt the effect.
Cracks have developed in the walls of the houses belonging to Ashwath in Malalur, Sunil in Subhash Nagar in Mudigere, Meenakshamma of Kundur estate in Tatkola and Sudarshan.
Hassan:
Tremors were felt in Hassan city, Sakleshpur, Alur, Arsikere and some areas of Belur taluk. An intensity of 2.1 has been registered on the Richter scale. A few houses in Sakleshpur have developed cracks on the walls. Intensity was higher in Byrapura and Palya of Alur taluk and Ballupet, Yadehalli and Sakleshpur town, Hanubalu and Rakshidi in Sakleshpur taluk, while Arsikere had lesser effect.
Kodagu:
Slight tremors have been reported in Somwarpet taluk.
Dakshina Kannada:
Some villages in Sullia taluk like Kukke Subrahmanya, Guttigar and Kulkunda felt the tremors around the same time as other places.
In most cases among all the aforementioned, people got panicky and ran out of their houses, as utensils and other household effect began rattling. The effect lasted for a mere five seconds, said the residents.
