Illicit Liquor Racket in Benjanapadavu Busted, Two Arrested

Bantwal: The Excise department busted an illicit liquor racket and arrested two persons in Ammunje, Benjanapadavu here on April 18.

The arrested have been identified as Kiran Kumar and Christon D’Souza from Ammunje, Benjanapadav.

According to the Excise police, on getting reliable information about illicit liquor being prepared in Benjanapadavu, the police raided the spot and arrested both the accused. 1200 liters of mixed raw material, 950 kgs jaggery, 500 liters fake wine and 300 kgs of mixed Potatoes were seized from their possession.

Under the direction of Joint commissioner of Excise department Shilaja Kote and able leadership of Superintendent of Mangaluru Excise Division Vinod Kumar and the able guidance of deputy Superintendent Mangaluru Division Geetha, the raid was conducted by the Excise Inspectors Vijayakumar and team.

  1. Most of the police are not wearing face mask. In fact, one can hear coughing inside the small room crowded with unmasked police. Very silly to behave this way at the height of virus pandemic.
