Each House has its motto and colour.

And Our “Super Dancer” Rishon Shane Lasrado, should be proud to study in this School, in 4th grade, which encourages students to take part in various co-curricular activities, and for the FIRST time, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, in order to keep the students active have organized this “SMCS Super Dancer” contest, where the young kids are given a chance to unleash their hidden dance talents, and win the coveted “SMCS Super Dancer” Title. SMCS is a temple of learning, where every child is given a wonderful opportunity to shape himself or herself for the future, and offers all-round personality development to the students and helps them to grow gracefully in the knowledge and understanding of themselves in relation to others and to God. The school upholds a tradition of excellence not only in academics but also in sports and games and all other extra-curricular activities.

And Rishon has grabbed the opportunities provided at this School in involving himself in co-curricular activities, along with academics- and for the FIRST time he has accepted the gauntlet as a DANCER, to take part in this ‘SMCS Super Dancer’ Feat- and Mnagalorean.com readers need to encourage this young lad by supporting him in watching his superb dancing captured on YouTube, and make him a proud winner.

For Rishon Shane Lasrado, it is his FIRST-time attempt in an Online Dance Competition organised by the school. From kindergarten to grade 2, Rishon studied in Abu Dhabi Indian school, and after coming back to Mangaluru, he continued his further schooling at SMCS. Recently having an interest in dancing, hE was trained for FIVE days by ‘Ocean Kids’ Dance Group in Mangaluru trainer Praveen Kumar, who did an excellent job in training a non-dancer, in getting ready for this contest. “It wasn’t an easy task for Rishon as he was born with a club foot on the right leg, and had undergone a surgery when he was nine-months-old. Being an Excellent badminton player, but unfortunately, he had to stop playing badminton due to the doctor’s advice, since his right foot started swelling and was finding it difficult to walk”, said his mother Mrs Seema Lasrado.

Speaking further she said, “We are doing a lot of strengthening foot exercises so that he can continue his passion of playing badminton. His right leg is one size shorter and thinner than the left leg, and as a mother, I didn’t want to strain him with the dance competition. But when Rishon approached me and said that he wants to compete, saying, “Mummy, you always say nothing is impossible. So let’s do it.’. His words motivated me a lot, and so I arranged for a trainer who was willing to train him in spite of knowing his issues. It wasn’t easy for him but he never gave up. In the meantime, he was also getting trained in music by Joyson Miranda who comes to our house in Kinnigoli all the way from Farangipet. Apart from dancing and music, Rishon rides cycle and does a lot of stunts without holding the handle. He is also an animal lover, who likes all kinds of animals, and keeps himself busy during his free time, playing with the furry ones”.

Rishon is the son of Rohan Lasrado, presently working as a Branch Manager at Everest Metal Industries Abu Dhabi, who is a former state volleyball player; and Mrs Sapna Seema Fernandes, who worked as a biology lecturer in St. Aloysius PU College, Mangaluru for 5 years and then as a teacher in Abu Dhabi Indian School, and now a home-maker. Rishon has a younger sister, Miss Reniece Samaira Lasrado, studying in UKG at St. Mary’s Central School-Kinnigoli.

When asked what she has to say about Rishon, Mrs Sapna said, “All I can say is that it’s the same mother who cried seeing Rishon’s leg when he was born and said, “Why God, Why me? (‘Coz I thought he wouldn’t be able to walk for life…) That’s when my Dad said, ” Because God knows you would be the best mother for him, and that is why you have the choicest gift, and the best gift”. And it’s true what my dad said. And now, looking at Rishon I always get positive vibes. It’s like, there is nothing he can’t do. He accepts challenges like a pro. He is a blessing to us and he has always made us proud. He is truly a blessing to me and my husband, and we are proud of his upcoming talents. His win in this contest will be a memorable and proud moment for us, and we can’t wait for the results”.

Also speaking to Team Mangalorean, Rishon’s grandma Mrs Hilda Fernandes, an International athlete at the age of 65 (Ref: Age is Just a Number! At 65, Mangalorean Hilda Fernandes Still an Int’l Athlete having Won over 500 Medals) said, “There are tons of good things to tell about Rishon, but mainly he is a super talented kid, who never gives up, and nothing that he doesn’t want to learn. He is a smart and talented kid, and I wish his first attempt in this dance contest will bring success to him, I pray. I feel proud of being his grandma, and he will always be my favourite grandchild”.

Team Mangalorean wishes ‘Super Talented Kid’ Rishon Shane Lasrado all success in the ‘SMCS Super Dancer’ Contest. You Go Boy!
