Arrested in Drug Case Kishore Shetty & Aqeel Remanded to Seven Days Police Custody

 Mangaluru : Kishore Aman Shetty, aged 30- a Dancer, Actor and Choreographer, who was arrested along with his accomplice Aqeel Nausheel (28), on Saturday, 19 September on drug trafficking and consumption charges , have been both remanded to seven days police custody, after they were produced before the judge at his residence on Sunday, 20 September, following which the police took them into 7-days custody. Both Kishore and Aqeel had to undergo Covid-19 test on Sunday and the result is expected today (Monday) sometime.

The police will have to wait till the test results are in, to do more questioning on a full scale, on both the accused. If the test results are found negative, the police can do their interrogation right away, and if the test result is positive, both will have to undergo treatment according to government norms. Following on the direction of the DG/IGP, Mangaluru police under the leadership of City Police Commissioner Vikash Kumar have been doing a great job in cracking down on drug dealers and drug menace in this education Hub, and adding to their credit in drug arrests, on Saturday 19 September had arrested Kishore Aman Shetty, a ‘Dance India Dance’ TV Reality Show Fame, and group member of Ocean Kids Dance Company, Mangaluru, along with his accomplice, Aqeel Nausheel, who used to buy and bring drugs from Mumbai and market it in Mangaluru, especially to the youth and college students.

Mangaluru Police Commissioner Vikash Kumar briefing the media had said that the police were successful in nabbing Kishore, a resident of Kulai, Mangaluru, along with his accomplice, identified as Aqeel , a resident of Suratkal, having possession of MDMA (methylene droxy methamphetamine), a drug that is banned in India, since it is hazardous to health. They both were dealing with drugs smuggled from Mumbai and were trying to sell them in Mangaluru, mostly the youth. The police had seized the drugs (MDMA), a Bajaj Discovery bike, and two mobile phones, altogether worth Rs 1 lakh.

As per police, Aqeel who was employed in the Gulf as a safety officer, had returned to his hometown last year, and started the habit of buying drugs from Mumbai and Bengaluru and then sell them in Mangaluru. Kishore Aman Shetty, the accused is a well-known dancer and choreographer who bagged the prize in the ‘Dance India Dance TV Reality Show, has also acted in a HIndi movie. He also won in a dance competition in Suvarna Kannada channel. To earn quick money, Kishore joined with Aqeel, selling MDMA , and both were arrested for drug peddling and consumption. The case has been registered under NDPS Act, and all leads and connections will be investigated.

During the preliminary questioning by the police, Kishore said that being addicted to drugs, he landed into drug trade recently, and meantime, was a dance performer, choreographer and also acted with minor roles in Hindi films in Mumbai Sources reveal that Kishore had returned to Mangaluru a few months back, and was staying with his family in a small tiled house at Kulaigudde. The reason for indulging in drug trafficking ,Kishore ahd faced lots of financial problems during the Covid-19 lockdown, having no income- and he started getting drugs from Mumbai through his Mumbai freinds connection.

The police have requested the citizens, that if they have any information about drug dealing or drug consumption in the city, to inform the police quickly by calling the police control room at 100/0824-2220800 and all information shared with the police will be kept confidential, including the identity of the caller.
