1st Yr Sahyadri Students bag ‘Best Freshers Award’ at IIT-Kharagpur

Mangaluru: First year students of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management participated in KSHITIJ 2017 -Asia’s Largest Techno-management fest held at IIT – Khargpuron 27th, 28th and 29th January 2017. They participated in three events, Conquest – To build a robot with Computer Vision Technology, Droid blits – To build an amphibious bot which can travel both on land and water, Bricks – To build a robot which can segregate hollow and solid blocks.

Team of 16 first year students participated in the event and bagged Best Freshers Award for their outstanding performance in Kshitij 2017.This team was the only team to solve the entire problem statement amongst premier institutes like IITs and NITs. BEST FRESHERS AWARD at IIT Kharagpur is being awarded for the 3rd time in 13 years of Kshitij history.

Total of 1500 engineering students participated all over the country from prestigious institutions. When asked one of the team mate on how did they achieve this in very first year, Mr. Jehad said, “Sahyadri College has been giving lot of exposure to us through hands on experience and social innovation which has helped us a lot in achieving this”.The students were trained by Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd., a start up in Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Adyar.

Sahyadri Edu Dreamers R&D Pvt. Ltd. which is also called as DTlabz is a space which supports enthusiasts on innovation and technology. DTlabz also provided a makerspace for not only Sahyadrians but also students of any other institute without barrier of any age. DTlabz has won many accolades through their students. Mr. Rishabh, 8thstd of Canara High School won first prize in Robotic event, The Amateur Scientist held in Pesit College Bangalore. Mr. Navajith and his team won Best Young Innovators for their Smart Electronic Helmmet at India Innovative Institute organized by DST held at IIT Delhi. Mr. John Nikhil, Mr. Sujay Shetty and Mr. Suraj have also received appreciation from Mr. A B Ibrahim, former DC – Mangalore for their aerial videography of Mangalore.
