Beltangady: Chandravati (29), daughter of Birmana Poojary of Janata colony in Karambar in the taluk, took a drastic step of ending her life with her three-month-old infant, by jumping into well near her house.
Neither of them was not found at home on Wednesday morning. So others made a search and soon their bodies were found in the well.
She had been given in marriage to Sadananda of Aryapu near Puttur. She had come to her parental home for her second delivery. When she took the harsh step, her husband and first child were in his house in Puttur.
She reportedly had, some time ago, a surgery for sterilization, which resulted in some side effects and was in pain for long. In spite of being treated in different hospitals, cure was not in sight. Hence it is suspected that she decided to end her life out of distress.
The bodies were sent to Mangaluru for post-mortem examination. The Venur police have registered a case.
