Childline and LD Rescue minor boy from Deviprasad Hotel

Mangaluru: The childline and labour department officers jointly raided a hotel in Kuloor and rescued a 13-year-old boy here on September 16.

On getting information, the childline and labour department officers raided Hotel Deviprasad and rescued a 13-year-old boy from Koppala who was working there.

The boy has studied up to third standard, due to financial problems he was deprived of education. His parents work as daily wage labourers. He boy was interested in continuing his education but his parents came to Mangaluru in search of a job. The boy was forced to discontinue his education and followed his parents. After coming to Mangaluru, he joined Devi Prasad hotel and since then he has been working there.

The rescued boy has been handed over to the Child Welfare committee for rehabilitation. The boy will be admitted to the school under “Shale Kade Nanna Nade”, campaign.

The raid was carried out by labour officer Shekhar Gowda, Ganapathi Hegade, child labour project director Srinivas, Sampath Shetty, Asumpta D’Souza and Pavitra Jyothigudde from Childline -1098.
