‘CanSurvive’ Campaign to bring Awareness about Cancer by FMMC to Kick Off on Jan 22

Mangaluru: Mangaluru: “CanSurvive Campaign is an initiative by the staff and students of Father Muller Medical College Hospital designed to create awareness as well as raise funds for patients with curable cancer. CanSurvive campaign will kick start with the Lavender Ribbon Drive on January 22nd. The lavender ribbons are a sign of support towards creating awareness for curable cancer which can be worn from Jan 22nd till February 11 as a part of the campaign. The ribbons will be made available across more than 20 associate partner stores in the city” said Dr Rohith Pinto- Campaign adviser and Medical Staff at FMMC during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club.

He further said, “On February 3rd, Sea Seven and Split-fingers, two of the city’s finest bands, will present, The Gala, an evening of music and entertainment at Spindrift. During the Gala, an auction of autographed merchandise from Cricketer Yuvraj Singh along with a painting by renowned artist Darren Mascarenhas will be held. The auction merchandise will include shirts, caps and autographed real time cricket match balls autographed by Yuvraj Singh, which has been provided by YouWeCan, an NGO headed by Yuvraj Singh. With the latest scores set by India’s top cricketer, we are sure to auction the memorabilia and raise funds for the cause”.

“Run for a Cause is a 5kms run/walk organised on Feb 5th which will begin at 6:15 am from the Father Muller Medical College Stadium which will be flagged off by Mangalore’s Superbike’s Association. Along with the run participants CanSurvivors, various Olympic and Paralympic athletes will also take part. This session will also include a training set by Ground Sports Fitness. Naveen Richards, the stand-up comedian of international fame will showcase Laugh Out Loud, a comedy night at the Academy Hall auditorium, Father Mullers institution on February 11 from 7:30 pm,” added Dr Rohith.

Also speaking during the press meet, Dr Wanmancy Pariang- Student-in-charge of the project said, ” On January 26, you can visit the Cansurvive campaign stall at City Centre Mall- Mangaluru. The day will witness an auction memorabilia from Yuvraj Singh, a bike rally by front line automobiles Royal Enfield, and other entertainment activities. Event highlights will include a sale of jewellery by the students of FMMC, baked goodies by Crave Bakes and Desserts, and others as well as mannequin challenges, polaroid picture shots and lots more!”

“Profits made from all the events organised will be donated to the CanSurvive fund to aid financially challenged patients with curable cancer. Winners from various events will be awarded prizes such as Jet airways flight tickets, lunch or dinner coupons at fine dining restaurants like Hotel Taj Gateway etc, vouchers from other reputed businesses. Dr Rohith Pinto, campaign adviser along with the organising team would encourage the participation of citizens from all walks and render their support towards this noble cause. In lieu with the motto of Father Muller’s ‘Heal and comfort,’ the campaign would like to spread the message of hope that ‘Together we can make a difference’ added Dr Pariang.

Fr Richard Coelho- Administrator of FMMC was also present on the dais during the press meet. Regular updates on CanSurvive Campaign would be telecast on TV channels and other print and media and also at City Centre mall.
