Game of Thrones concert tour coming in 2017

Los Angeles, Aug 9 (IANS) “Game Of Thrones”, a popular fantasy drama TV series, will soon go from the small screen to the stage.

Live Nation announced the 28-city “Game of Thrones” Live Concert Experience on Monday at the Hollywood Palladium here, reports variety.com.

The show, based on music from the hit HBO show, is described as a “music and visual experience that will bring the Seven Kingdoms to life on a scale never seen before”.

The USC marching band kicked off the event, marching through the streets of Hollywood while playing the “GoT’ theme to the delight of the hundreds of fans.

Inside the venue, actor Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, introduced “Game of Thrones” composer and tour mastermind Ramin Djawadi.

Djawadi explained the idea for the tour came from the TV show’s creators.

“We were in the studio together reviewing some music and one of them said ‘I would love to see this live. I want to full orchestra. I want to see a choir.’ So we went from there,” Djawadi said.

The experience will be a blend of LED screens and special stage designs. Concept art for the stage shows a giant screen flanked by flaming towers that house the choir and orchestra.

The tour will kick off next February in Kansas City and will hit 28 cities, including Los Angeles, New York City and Las Vegas. Three shows in Canada are also planned.

Inspired by novelist George R.R. Martin’s bestselling series, the HBO series narrates a gripping story of seven kingdoms and royals vying for the Iron throne. It weaves together various emotions — from love, politics, revenge, hatred and value of family — into a bloody tale which has caught the fancy of several people across the globe.

The premiere of the seventh season is slated for summer 2017 on HBO internationally and on Star World Premiere HD in India.
