Global Toastmasters Club holds New Year’s resolutions meeting at Grad Dunes restaurant, Jubail
Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia: Thursday, 7th 2017 was the day of celebration for well-known and reputed Global Toastmasters Club members and their families. The Global Members gathered to celebrate its last meeting of the term with 2018 new year’s resolution day. The proceedings began at 7:00 pm at Grand Dunes Restaurant, Al Jubail.
The meeting was opened by Sergeant at arms TM Syed Abbas, read out the mission of TMI. He then introduced the energetic Presiding Officer Madam Toastmasters Uzma Siddiqui, after her greetings and briefing, she welcomed the vibrant and dynamic Toastmaster of the day DTM Shameer Ahmed Kudroli to conduct the educational session of the evening. He revealed the meeting theme as ‘It’s our time’ and enlightened how we can utilize our precious time effectively and usefully to maintain our health as well as growth, subsequently he introduced the team of assignees to conduct the meeting with élan and ease.
Word master & Grammarian – MTM Madhura Nilesh, introduced the word of the day ‘Ebullient’, and explained its usage, General Evaluator- DTM Safare Mohammed conducted the evaluation session, Timer- TM Syed Abbas, Vote counter- TM Rajendra Singh. Two speeches were evaluated by DTM Aziz Siddiqui and TM Khalid Siddiqui. The table topics session was differed to provide ample time for the workshop.
This meeting was a whopping success. It’s considered as 2018 New Year’s resolutions where celebration and education went together. With one advanced speech by presiding officer MTM Uzma Siddiqui and CC speech by MTM Zarin Abbas. The icing on the cake was, two informative workshops especially ‘How to prepare Humorous Speech’ and ‘How to tackle Table Topic’ were conducted by enthusiastic DTM Safare Mohammed and passionate DTM Aziz Siddique to prepare the members ready for upcoming contests.
The highlight of the meeting was the resolution for the year 2018. It’s a unique idea brought by TMOD. It’s was interesting to know that most of the members’ goal for the new year is to shed their weight with proper exercise, which showcased the health concern in growing among the members. At the end of the meeting, TMOD DTM Shameer Ahmed Kudroli gave tips on how to reduce weight by a simple and easy to follow a diet with regular brisk walking of one hour.
Both the madam speakers were considered the winners of the meeting for their stunning performance. MTM Madura and TM Mesfer Al Saeed won the best resolution gift for their challenging yet achievable goals.
The presiding officer thanked TMOD for conducting the event colorfully and adjourned the meeting with a bang. Overall it was a memorable evening of fun and education.
What a nice and delightful message to read about Global Toastmasters in Jubail, Saudi Arabia combining their Toastmasters gathering with Eeducation and celebration at the Grand Dunes Restaurant. The place Al-Jubail was known to us just fifty years ago as a fishing port surrounded by serene beaches and palm gardens has now turned out to be one of the largest Petrochemical sights of the world.
Toastmasters activities nearly fifty years were only secluded in Aramco at Dhahran, whereas now Toastmasters movement is spreading actively throughout the Kingdom. In fact, couple of years ago, Mohammed Al-Qahtani from Saudi Arabia was chosen as the World Champion of Public Speaking.
Times have changed all over the world, particularly in Saudi Arabia where women are allowed to drive, cinema houses are almost about to open for public, and many more positive developments are on the horizon. Let the freedom of Education continue to prevail and also let the celebrations be part of daily human desires.
