If Anyone Gherao Udupi Math will get a befitting reply – Prof Puranik
Mangaluru: “If anyone tries to gherao the Udupi Math, BD and VHP will give a befitting reply. The Swamiji of Pejavar Math Sri Vishvesha Teertha is popularly known as the living saint and is a highly admired and respected religious leader who is widely credited as the initiator of many social reforms. Our community has considered the Swamiji as the true spiritual ambassador of Hindus of our country. He is known for his bold initiatives, revolutionary thinking, humanitarian activities and approaches, aimed at the betterment of the society. But recently, in a programme held in Udupi, the Swamiji was insulted by someone saying that the Pejawar Swamiji’s mind should be cleaned, which the Bajrang dal and VHP strongly condemns”, said the president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Prof M B Puranik in a press meet held at the VHP office here on October 15.
Puranik further said, “The Pejawar Swamiji has voiced for equality, and for treating everyone equally. Even the Muslims have great respect towards the Swamiji. The Swamiji has a special concern towards the Dalits and Dalits have a special respect and love towards the Swamiji. When the Swamiji had visited their house they had welcomed him with great love and respect. We have unity and equality, but one particular group is unable to digest the good work done by the Swamiji and is trying to defame him. The particular group is trying to divide the Hindu community but they will not succeed in their attempts”.
Recently in a programme, the Udupi Math and the Swamiji were targeted. The person who has commented on the Swamiji should apologize. The main aim of the BD and VHP is to protect the Hindu Dharma and its values. Hindu organizations and the Sangh Parivar is ready to protect our Dharma at any cost.
Prof Puranik stressed, “The government should take action before we lose our patience against those who have delivered inciting speeches against Pejawar Swamiji and the Udupi Math. One should not divide the society in this manner”.
“Pejawar Swamiji does not like violence, he always advises his devotees to be good to others. The statement by an intellectual on the Swamiji has hurt the sentiments of not only Hindus but also the Muslims. We demand an apology for comments against Pejawar Swamiji and his statement should be withdrawn. We do not need any publicity, but we demand the person who has commented against the Pejawar Swamiji to apologize. If anyone tries to gherao the Udupi Math, BD and VHP will give a befitting reply”, warned Prof Puranik.
Secretary of VHP Krishna Murthy, Convener of BD Sharan Pumpwell, Gopak Kuthar, Vasudeva Gowda, Shivananda Mendon and Dinesh Pai were also present.
