Man Dies in Attempt to Save Teenager from Drowning

Karkala: A group had arrived from Shivamogga to visit Mangaluru last week. While on their way back via Hebri, a tragic incident took place.

They got down at Bandimatha near Nadpalu Someshwar to bathe in river Sitanadi. A fifteen-year-old boy was about to drown while bathing. Irfan (33) went to his rescue and both got into trouble and were struggling to come up.

Local social worker H B Suresh and his team pulled them out and took them to the government hospital in Hebri. They were then taken to Manipal hospital. While the boy is recovering, Irfan died of the effects.

The Hebri police have registered a case.
