Mangaluru: Based on a tip off by the Air India Security, Customs officers intercepted a passenger at the International Airport here on June 18.
The customs officers intercepted Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamood (31) and seized about 4.110 kilograms (including moisture content) of dark green dry leaves believed to be ‘CANNABIS’, a narcotic drug commonly known as Marijuana or Ganja, valued at about Rs 5,00,000/- in the international market, from the baggage found in possession of the said passenger.
The passenger Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamood, who was bound to Doha by Air India Express flight No.IX821 scheduled for departure on June 18, evening is a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala. The passenger has been arrested and is being produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangalore for remand.
