Mangaluru: Komal (name changed), who was with Anwar (name changed) during the assault held a press meet at Mallikatta here on August 25.
Addressing the mediapersons, Komal said, “I have been working as an associate in the operation department in a supermarket in Attavar from the past 3 months. Four days ago, Anwar said that he will drop me to the bus stop and due to the work pressure I said “Ok”. As he is my boss, I agreed to go along with him. When I got into his car, he said that he would be passing through Bikarnakatte and that he would drop me home. But in the car, he started to abuse me sexually. I was uncomfortable during the drive, so I got down at Bikarnakatte and went home by bus.”
She further said, “On August 24, I was going home after finishing my duty and was walking towards Nandigudda. He had parked his car near KMC. When I was walking on the road, he forced me to come in his car. When I refused to go by car, he pulled me inside the car. I screamed for help and the public gathered and thrashed him. I don’t know of any development thereafter. When the public asked why he was troubling me, he said ‘it is none of your business’. I do not know anyone who saved me from Anwar.”
She also said, “I have threat to my life, I need police protection”, and demanded that the 15 Hindu activists be released as “they are innocent”.
When asked why she had not filed a complaint after the sexual abuse, Komal replied, “I am from a very poor family and he was threatening me not to reveal anything to the police. I was scared and did not tell anyone.”
She has filed a complaint against Anwar in the Pandeshwar police station and has demanded for his arrest.
