Mangaluru: Minister Sorake and Ramanath Rai Inaugurate Seven Development Projects in City

Mangaluru: A foundation stone laying ceremony for road concreting projects was held in the city here, on July 27. The District Minister In-charge, Ramanath Rai, along with Urban Development Minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake, laid the foundation stone for the concreting work for seven roads in the city.

The foundation stone was laid for 7 development projects – Konchadi-Kavoor road, Pacchanady main road, Maladi court road, Koragajjana Gudi road, Durga Mahal to Bokkapatna Church road, Subhashnagar Junction to Mangaladevi Temple road and the Kadri Temple road and footpath.

Addressing the mediapersons, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that out of the seven development projects, 2 roads will be concreted under the second phase of the UD programme, four roads will be concreted under the UDP and one road will be concreted under the thirteenth FCP. He further said that the Central government also launched development projects such as Urban Development and Housing scheme and also the Smart City scheme. “Mangaluru City Corporation has been included under AMRUT Scheme. In this scheme, the state and the central governments will sanction Rs 100 crore each. In the state, we have 25 towns with more than one lakh population and the state government has instructed to prepare a detailed project report on the same.”

“For the smart city project, we have identified 11 corporations in the state and we will select the best 6 corporations with the availability of e-governance, solid waste management and the 24×7 water supply. The selected cities will be provided Rs 100 crores each from the state and the central government every year for five years,” he said.

When asked about the appointment of the Commissioner, Sorake said that a Commissioner will be appointed soon and the process has begun.

District incharge minister B Ramanath Rai, MLAs J R Lobo and Moideen Bava, MLC Ivan D’Souza, Mayor Jacintha Alfred and others were also present.
